Zithromax
Zithromax is one of the most convenient antibiotics that are used by both children and adults who suffer from different diseases. In young people, Zithromax is used in the treatment of ear infections, tonsillitis, and pneumonia. There are other drugs that can be used to cure the same diseases like penicillin. However, if the patient is allergic to penicillin then he or she can use Zithromax. Zithromax is the best drug in the market today when it comes to treating bacteria-induced infections. Some of these diseases include pertussis, pneumonia, secondary bacterial infection, sinusitis, and chronic bronchitis among others.
The trade name for this drug is azithromycin. Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic that is the best choice for children who are allergic to other drugs, especially penicillin. This drug can be taken with food or without food. When compared to other antibiotics, this drug is not so expensive yet it is very effective. Zithromax has several and different forms that include the Tri pak of five hundred mg tablets, Z pak of two hundred and fifty mg tablets, and the one for oral suspension -which is meant to treat ear infections -can be offered as a single dose of thirty mg.

Even when used by children, Zithromax has its side effects that include, vomiting, rashes, loose stools, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain among others. Sometimes the vomiting and diarrhea can be high depending on the amount of the dose. This drug can also lead to allergic reactions, which have to be reported to a doctor. Not everybody can take Zithromax in that, children who suffer from other problems like hypersensitivity or any kind of allergy to Zithromax should not take it. Also children who are allergic to erythromycin or macrolide antibiotic should not take Zithromax. Even though this drug can be used by children, it is not recommended to children under six months of age because it can lead to other serious medical conditions that may lead to death.
Before taking Zithromax, you should consult your pediatrician or your pharmacist concerning the possible drug interactions if you are currently taking other medications. Zithromax is very convenient if the patient can take it in though when he or she vomits it immediately, it is advisable that you turn to another prescription. Zithromax should only be prescribed with a proven bacterial infection. If not, it may increase the risk of the development of drug resistance. When prescribing this medication, the patient should be advised not to take substances that contain magnesium, aluminum, and other antacids.
If the patient experiences any signs of allergic reaction, he or she should discontinue Zithromax immediately. Zithromax should only be used to cure bacterial infections but not viral infections such as common cold. Zithromax medication should be taken exactly as directed by the physician because skipping or not completing the doses can lower the drug's effectiveness and thus increase the bacteria resistance, which means that it will not be treatable by any anti bacterial drug including Zithromax in the future.
